Sustainable Cities and Service Delivery
Climate change has multi-faceted impacts on cities and various aspects of urban life. This working group collaborated and identified a key areas of focus that can make cities resilient. These include- sustainable urban planning, place-based governance, disaster resilience and just energy transition. Through advocacy efforts aimed at shaping policy and governance systems, the alliance aims to enhance the capabilities of CSOs, Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), and individual wards in climate action. Submitted a collective response to the Karnataka Government for their Brand Bengaluru campaign:
With a consortium of Alliance partners, w engaged with the Karnataka Government on issues of waste management, citizen engagement and governance, and flood management.
Partnered with Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) for Garbage Free Cities and Swachh Bharat Mission:
The Alliance has officially partnered with MoHUA to provide support for developing operational guidelines and strategic implementation plan for the Garbage Free Cities and Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban 2.0). We convened our partners to discuss pathways towards building Garbage Free Cities. The need to build accountability and foster two-way engagement between government and citizens along with the need to map priorities towards waste ecosystems in cities emerged as top priorities.
